My name is Catherine Webb, and I've had the wonderful opportunity to intern at Sosebee & Britt Orthodontics. It was a great learning experience for me to test the waters in a career I am interested in. I was able to be very hands on with patients, which taught me a lot. What I have learned is that although most children in today’s society receive orthodontic treatment, not many actually are in need of treatment for health issues. The rewards on treatment can prevent some mouth diseases, but treatment is not absolutely needed. Before this year, I believed that braces were needed to fix health problems within the mouth, but this is often not the case. Most patients want treatment for appearance. Today, we worry about how we look, how others look, and how we can better ourselves. It's was extremely interesting see all different types of teeth deformations and cases. This experience has taught me so much. I've realized that orthodontics is definitely what I want to do in the future. I love seeing patients smiles transform and people happy. I plan to be an assistant for a year then go on to school to further as an orthodontist.
